東京、新橋、16時

それなりに流行っているラーメン屋がある。
店主と思しき50絡みの親父さんと若い衆二人。
ランチタイムからは程遠いこの時間でも客は途絶えることは無い。
カウンターに座りしな「ラーメン」とつぶやく。
間髪をいれずにお冷がでてくる。
そのやさぐれ飯に特有な沈黙の間隙は嫌いではない。
が。
沈黙に満ちたはずの数瞬をぶち壊す奇矯に甲高い声が店の奥から飛んできた。

「ラーメンだってヨ」「オ客サン、ラーメンだって」

緑色のダウンジャケットを着込み銅色の髪の毛をした女は
半ば禿げ上がった頭頂を持つがっちりとした体躯の親父さんにしきりに声をかけている。

…もしかしたらアレか？

危険を感じなかったわけではないが、残り二人の店員の雰囲気がそうではないと告げていた。
急激な動きがあればすぐに立ち上がれるようつま先に体重をかけ浅く椅子に腰をかけ
左目の端で緑の奇獣を補足しつつ、ぼんやりと白濁するスープの寸胴をながめていた。
カウンター上のトッピングの壷に隠れて見えないが、緑の奇獣はなにやら書き付けているようだ。

数分。いや数十秒後。
入り口近くの席の若者が「ご馳走様」と丼をカウンター上に下げる。なかなか良くできた子だ。
「はい、600円です」
ごく普通のぶっきらぼうなラーメン屋での会話が今は愛おしい。

ほっとしているとそこに

「ハヤスギるヨー」

誰に声を掛けているのだろうか。
もしかしたらオレか？

「今のお客サン、食事ハヤスギるヨー。アッツイのに」

中国系と思しきイントネーションの甲高い声の塊がカウンターの上を通り過ぎていった。
方向はまさしくオレを向いていたがアテンションの像を結ぶことは無く、それは見事にオレの座っている空間を通り過ぎていった。

思わず奥の銅色の髪の毛の女を見る。見なきゃ良かったけど。
乱杭の歯をにっとはみださせ（笑っているようには見えなかったのだ）茫漠と空ろな目線の先には確かにオレがいたが、恐らくは彼女自身の中にも像を結んではいなかったのだろう。

対象にたいする理解があってでなければ、何を投げかけても対象には届かないのだ。
それは距離とは関係なく、大きさや強さや頻度とも関係がない。好意とすら関係がない。
文化の違いだからだ。
ジムシーがラナにねずみの開きをあげても喜ばれないのと似ているような似ていないような。

緑色のダウンジャケットを着て銅色の髪の毛をした女の青いマニキュアをした痩せた手は、意外なほどに白く透き通っていて色っぽさすら感じられた。
手にはキャラクターもののシャープペンシル。
手元には日本語練習帳が開いてあった。

親父さんのばつの悪そうな目線がこちら方向に落ちてきたのを感じた。
ははぁん。
バイトのお姉ちゃんに手ぇ出したってとこか。

直後、店の若い衆から「ラーメン出来上がりました」と声が掛かる。

それがきっかけで（変なたとえだが）魔法の呪文のようにこわばった空気がとけて椅子に腰を落ち着かせた。
ラーメンはうまかった。普通に。

そそくさと食べ終わって「ご馳走様」と席を立つオレには「ハヤイね」とは声がかけられなかった。
おつりの500円玉を受け取って自転車で席に戻る。
手のひらの500円玉が妙に軽く感じて仕方が無かった。

そして今。

どうやら、偽500円玉をつかまされたらしい……
自販機を通りませんがな。(´･ω･`)

Don"t see a huge difference, and as the the comment about people using as their main computer – how are they gonna get stuff on it? Don"t get me wrong I lurv my iPad, but id don"t feel new…. I was on Verizon before and liked their coverage but hated their customer service.
