君は『銭湯PR誌1010』を知っているか？

今に始まったことではないが、東京に住んでいるとなんだかフリーペーパーがやたらと多いのだ。
音楽系フリーペーパーの草分けといわれているCLUBKING Dictionaryにも関わっていたし、R25とかブンゲイ系のフリーペーパーにもライターとして誘われていたりするのでそこらへんは素人ではなく多少厳し目に斜め読んでいるのではありますが、どうしても気になってチェックしてしまうフリーペーパーもいくつかあるわけでして…　というどーでもいいお話。

なにはともあれフリーペーパー。
名のごとくに街角でまさに無料で手に入るものでありますから、内容はどんなものであったとしても電車に乗っている間手持ち無沙汰が解消されるわけでして、それだけでも大変結構なものなのはありまするが、中でもいくつかのフリーペーパーに関しては気になって時期が来ると探してしまったりするのですよ。ああ変な口語体。

ということで今もっとも気になっているフリペを以下に羅列。

銭湯PR誌1010

地下鉄大江戸線の六本木駅でしか置いているところを見かけたことがないフリーペーパー。というか毎号そこでピックアップしております。
1010＝千十、つまり「銭湯」というわけで、東京都浴場組合の広報誌なのでございます。ベタなタイトルもなかなかステキで、創刊して12年という老舗の味を醸しだしているわけでして。
んで内容的を読んでみるとこれまた意外にも（失礼）かなり良く出来ているフリーペーパーでして、特に渾身の連載企画『銭湯三国志』は必見と言えましょう。
毎号読んでいるので「銭湯人は北陸三県出身者が多い」とかいった話に強くなっている自分に気づいてしまうのですよ。

ちなみにオンラインでも内容を読むことは出来ますが、昔懐かしい感もあるレイアウトも味わいのひとつですんで、是非一度は手にとって見ていただきたいものでありますです。

明治屋の「嗜好」

これまた超絶老舗のフリーペーパー。なんと今配布している号で576号です。創刊は1908年4月というから恐れ入谷の鬼子母神。（なんか紹介文も古色がかってきてますが気になさらずに）
毎号毎号多士済々が寄稿されていて面白いのですが（先号あたりまでは小泉武夫さんの発酵食品のについてのインタビューが面白かった）、明治大正時代のバックナンバーからの記事がそこかしこにそのまま転載されているのが非常に興味深いのです。

例えば明治四十二年五月一日号からの転載記事では「燒き物に關する誤解」と題して、こんな文章を見ることが出来ます。

• 英米より帰朝の人は異口同音に「外国の焼き物は実に堅牢だ」というが、その焼き物の名前を聞くと答えられない。
  
• 機会を得て洋行するに至ったが、探してみても石焼(磁器)はない。有ったとしてもSemi porcelain(半磁器)と書いてあるのを見て、「米国人は今日まで磁器即ち石焼を作ることを知らぬ」と手を拍って笑った。半磁器とは陶器で磁器をまねることに苦心した賜物であると。
  
• 確かに一時期の日本ではオランダ焼きと称して呉須畫（ごすゑ）の陶器が盛んに輸入されたものだがそれは外国品という新奇を好む考えでありほどなく飽きがきていつしか輸入も止まった。
  
• その後西洋料理が盛んに行われるようになってから英国ジョンソンの硬質陶器が輸入されたが、今日に本の上流社会の人が西洋の一膳飯屋の藍筋の肉皿に満足する筈はないから、現に近頃は佛國製磁器の輸入を見るに至った。
  
• 即ちもはや日本ではそろそろ第二の英国硬質陶器きがいやになった時代が来たと思われる……
  

と、当時ならではの西洋諸国への微妙なコンプレックスを陶器磁器という日本のお家芸的産業を通して昇華しようという姿勢が慇懃な文語体から見て取れるのです。
こういった文章が無料で読めるなんてもう大変にありがたい。ジャムとか明治屋でバンバン買っちゃう。

ちなみに呉須畫（ごすゑ）の呉須は確かコバルトのことなので、藍筋ってのも合わせて読むと青い筋の染付け陶器の事だと思われます。陶器で青い
大正三年六月一日号の『果物のサラド』を見ると当時からフルーツサラダはメニューに存在していたのだとかいうこともわかります。キルシュ酒とかマラスキーノとかもレシピに入っているし。
ホントいちいち面白いよなぁ。

アーバンメトロライフ

デザイナー松永真氏のインタビューが面白いなぁと思っていたらutoさんもblogで取り上げられていた。

自分にとってそれが一体何なのか。どうなってほしいのか。

こうあるべきだ。と確信にかわる。
ここでの発注者との戦いはコラボレーションである。

・フェアであること
デザインは人に共鳴されなければ始まらない。
デザインの基準は変わるが人間性はそうそう変わらない。
・デザインは原寸大で取り組まないと解決しない。

utoさんが引用していなかった部分にも素敵な言葉があります。

• 何を伝えるかが明確になっていれば、おのずからシンプルになります。自分が何をやろうとしているのか分からない人が。複雑なものを生んでしまう。
  
• 的確な判断と意思と観察ができればシンプルになるものです。
  
• 真のシンプルさは結局、温かさも同時に持つものになっていく。
  

これまた面白し。

他にも銀座百点や銀座百点と見分けのつけづらい味覚春秋、日本老舗百店会の広報誌も面白いのではありますが、微妙にフリペっぽくもないので今回は割愛。

おお、1010ですね。
当たり前といえば当たり前ですが、発行時期あたりに銭湯に行くと置いてあります。駅でも配っていたのは驚きです。

真のシンプルさ。そこを的確につかむことが一言でいうと難しい。といいますか、確固たる自信がなければ自分がやろうとしていることも見つけられませんですよね。自省の日々でございます。
